Closure Meter

Safety Precautions

Prior to installation, ensure full compliance with site-specific mine safety regulations. All personnel must wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:

• Hard hat
• Safety gloves
• Safety glasses

Conduct a thorough assessment of the installation area to ensure it is safe and stable for work.

Preparation Steps

• Remove the protective plastic wrap from the Closure Meter's steel housing.
• Position the bottom plate of the unit on a level surface, aligning it with the target roof bolt.

Device Assembly and Adjustment

• Carefully place the Closure Meter onto the bottom plate.
• Loosen Adjustment Handle 1 and extend the first section of the meter (nearest to the steel housing) approximately halfway.
• Re-tighten Adjustment Handle 1 to secure the position.
• Loosen Adjustment Handle 2 and adjust the second extension arm until it makes firm contact with the roof bolt.
• Tighten Adjustment Handle 2 to lock the device in place.

Sensor Calibration

• At the base, rotate the mechanical jack counterclockwise until the LED indicators inside the sensor housing begin to flash red.
• Slowly turn the jack clockwise until the red LEDs stop flashing.

Completion

Once the LEDs have stabilized and are no longer flashing, the Closure Meter is successfully installed and ready to monitor roof movement.
